Unwomanly Media is a dynamic subsidiary of Unwomanly Media Group, a pioneering Pan-African multimedia technology and communications network and production company. Headquartered in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), we are a forward-thinking company led by African women, committed to reshaping media and communication across Africa. Our mission is to amplify the diverse voices of African women by delivering innovative, context-driven storytelling that addresses emerging issues and trends, while challenging the dominant narratives often imposed on African women in mainstream media.

At Unwomanly Media, we aim to bridge the cultural and linguistic divide between Francophone and Anglophone African nations. Through a wide array of inclusive media content, we create and distribute digital experiences that foster unity and understanding across the continent. Our portfolio spans podcasts, digital magazines, web series, live events, e-books, films, TV shows, music, and documentaries—all designed to reflect the richness, complexity, and dynamism of African life.

The name Unwomanly is a powerful statement in itself. It represents our commitment to breaking away from conventional, patriarchal depictions of African women in mainstream media. By embracing this bold term, we challenge the stereotypical boxes into which African women have often been placed. We are redefining what it means to be an African woman in all her multifaceted, intersectional dimensions—one who is unapologetically seen, heard, and celebrated for her full complexity.

Our content spans a wide range of topics, from technology and business to politics, finance, and feminism. At Unwomanly Media, we believe in elevating African voices and spotlighting the trailblazing figures shaping the future of the continent. Through our platforms, we connect audiences with Africa’s most innovative leaders, millennial entrepreneurs, and pioneers, while fostering a deeper understanding of the continent’s growing influence on the global stage.

As a key player in the emerging digital media landscape, Unwomanly Media is proud to be at the forefront of the new wave of African storytelling. We are not just telling stories—we are shaping a new media ecosystem that is inclusive, diverse, and empowering.

Unwomanly Media is deeply committed to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), (SDGs 5, 8, 10) with a particular focus on gender equality and closing both the digital divide and the gender gap. We understand that achieving gender equality requires systemic change, and as such, we have woven this commitment into every aspect of our company’s operations and culture.

From our organizational structure and internal policies to the diverse talent pool we cultivate, we actively work to create an environment where gender equity is not just an ideal, but a lived reality. This includes promoting equal opportunities at every level, from recruitment and hiring to leadership roles and decision-making processes.

Our approach extends to the strategic partnerships we build, ensuring that we collaborate with like-minded organizations and individuals who share our commitment to gender equality. Whether through our media products, services, or outreach efforts, we are dedicated to ensuring that women—particularly African women—have the tools, platforms, and support they need to thrive in the digital age.

We also focus on enhancing access and reach, ensuring that our content and initiatives are inclusive and accessible to women from all backgrounds, across both urban and rural settings, and in Francophone, Anglophone, and Lusophone regions. Our work aims to break down barriers to technology, information, and education, empowering women to lead in both the digital and physical realms.

Furthermore, our media platforms engage audiences in meaningful ways, raising awareness of the challenges women face and driving conversations that promote gender equality. By amplifying the voices of African women and creating spaces for them to share their stories, we foster a more inclusive, diverse, and equitable media landscape.

Through these efforts, Unwomanly Media is not only addressing the gender gap but also playing a pivotal role in shaping a more inclusive, sustainable, and equal future for all. We believe that by challenging traditional power dynamics and expanding opportunities for women in media, we can contribute to the broader movement toward achieving the SDGs and creating lasting change across Africa and beyond.
