Bridging the Digital Divide & Gender Gap
Unwomanly Media is a subsidiary of Unwomanly Media Group, a Pan-African multimedia technology and communications network and production company led by African women and headquartered in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). Our mission is to reshape media and communication across Africa through innovative, context-driven storytelling that centers the voices of African women, addressing emerging issues and trends.
We aim to bridge the gap between Francophone and Anglophone African nations by creating and distributing a broad spectrum of inclusive media content. This includes podcasts, digital magazines, web series, live events, e-books, films, TV shows, music, and documentaries.
Our name, Unwomanly, reflects our commitment to creating an alternative space that challenges the stereotypical, patriarchal narratives often imposed on African women in mainstream media. We are redefining what it means to be a multifaceted, intersectional African woman—one who is seen, heard, and valued for her full complexity.
Covering a wide range of topics—from technology and business to politics, finance, and feminism—Unwomanly Media aims to amplify African voices, enhance consumer awareness, and connect audiences with the continent's trailblazing industry leaders, millennial innovators, and pioneering figures. We are leading the new wave of African digital media.
Unwomanly Media is dedicated to advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals for gender equality by addressing both the digital divide and the gender gap. This commitment is woven into our company’s structure, policies, talent pool, partnerships, products, access, reach, capacity, and audience engagement.
To support SDG 10, we take an inclusive approach in our recruiting, selection, hiring, and onboarding processes. We are building a team that is non-discriminatory regardless of sex, age, disability, sexual orientation, race, class, ethnicity, gender, and or religion etc.
We aim to achieve SDG 5 by fostering gender equality within our media initiatives. From amplifying media coverage on gender related issues on the continent to promoting gender equality within our company's structure, policy, and partnerships.
We are committed to ensuring inclusive and sustainable economic growth, decent work, and productive employment. We attain this through our job creation strategies, talent pool, safe & secure working conditions, and the adaption of resilient actions for sustainability
